Frans Kortmann on what this expansion means to him
The new depot in Hoofddorp is more than an increase in capacity. It’s a significant step in Kortmann’s future, and for Frans, it’s also a very personal moment.
“This expansion feels like a real victory,” he says.
In previous expansion projects, the permit process went relatively smoothly, but this time it was different.
“It was extremely complicated. It took an enormous amount of time and energy.”
That’s why the moment when everything finally came together and construction could begin feels so special.
“The fact that it ultimately worked out gives extra satisfaction. It’s the result of perseverance and not giving up.”
The expansion will mean more space for art, built on the trusted foundations of safety, stability, and care for the object. At the same time, it is an opportunity to invest further in sustainability and specialized storage options.
Whether it’s temporary storage, long-term preservation, or bespoke solutions, at Kortmann art is always at the center, now and in the future.
This interview is part of the ‘Management Perspectives’ series, in which we ask our colleagues to share their personal views on the new depot expansion in Hoofddorp.
