After summer, the doors open

Behind the scenes, the work starts much earlier.

For many people, late summer marks the beginning of a new museum season. Exhibitions open their doors, works of art return from loans and new collections are presented to the public. For visitors, this is the moment when everything comes together.

For us, however, the process starts much earlier.

While many people are enjoying their summer holidays, preparations for upcoming exhibitions have already been underway for months. Planning, preparation and collaboration form the foundation of every successful project. Because getting a work of art safely to the right place involves much more than transport alone.

Good preparation makes all the difference

Long before a work of art is moved, extensive coordination takes place between museums, galleries, registrars and other parties involved. Which works will be travelling? When do they need to arrive? What type of packaging is required? And which route is most suitable?

Condition reports are checked, transport schedules are coordinated and, when works of art travel internationally, the necessary customs formalities are arranged.

It is precisely this careful preparation that helps everything run smoothly during the actual execution.

From storage to exhibition

For many works of art, the journey begins in storage. Here, objects are carefully checked before being packed for transport. Depending on the material, dimensions and destination, the appropriate packing method is selected for each shipment.

Only when everything has been carefully prepared is a work of art ready to travel safely.

Craftsmanship down to the last detail

Once the artwork arrives at its destination, another important phase begins. Our art handlers make sure that works are safely unpacked, checked and installed.

This requires precision. A painting needs to hang at exactly the right height. A sculpture must be carefully positioned and, where necessary, securely anchored. Throughout the process, we work closely with curators, conservators and museum staff to ensure that every work of art is presented at its best.

To visitors, an exhibition may appear effortless. Behind every object, however, is a team of specialists working together to prepare everything down to the smallest detail.

Making it possible together

A successful exhibition is always the result of collaboration. Planners, drivers, art handlers, storage staff, project managers and many other specialists each play their part.

It is precisely this collaboration that makes our work so special. Everyone shares the same goal: ensuring that art arrives safely, carefully and on time at the right destination.

When the doors open…

By the time the first visitors enter an exhibition, most of our work has already been done.

What they see is a beautifully presented exhibition. What often remains unseen are the months of preparation, logistical planning and craftsmanship behind the scenes.

And that is exactly what makes our work so special and dynamic.
